Directed by Joe Sears, who toured with the national tour of this hilarious comedy and received critical acclaim including a coveted Helen Hayes Award nomination for his Washington D.C, performance. Joe now brings this national tour staging to the Theater Bartlesville stage and promises this comedy will bring down the house. The Foreigner is a modern day comedy masterpiece written by the late Larry Shue, set in a rural Georgia fishing lodge run by a delightfully dizzy but heartwarming widow named Betty Meeks. Her guests at the lodge all have stories but none have ever come to the lodge more intriguing than a loveable and depressed British bloke named Charlie who manages to help Betty overcome her enemies and unite her faith in life again while finding new avenues of joy even for himself. The Foreigner sets off our season of plays with a stupendously fun comedy. During the run of the play comes a one night only offer of dinner theatre at Weeze’s Café just two doors down the street from Theater Bartlesville. Weeze’s Café is one Bartlesville’s staple comfort food eateries and will serve-up a Betty Meeks menu from her lodge for 50 people who will walk down to the show after dining. Tickets for these events are expected to go fast once box office opens September 1st, so make your plans!
